Відкрита лекція Марка Бойтера

Економіко-технологічний інститут імені Роберта Ельворті запрошує на відкриту лекцію професора Падерборнського університету (Universität Paderborn) Марка Бойтера (Marc Beutner) на тему: «Блоги сприяють плюралізму. Можливості і проблеми ведення блогів в епоху цифрових технологій». Мова лекції -англійська (без перекладу).

Проект реалізується Громадською організацією „Фундація прав людини” спільно з Благодійним Фондом "Ельворті" завдяки фінансовій підтримці Міністерства закордонних справ Німеччини.
Використання сучасних засобів масової інформації сприяє діалогу, обміну думками та ідеями, що заохочує розвиток плюралізму і демократії в цілому. Підходи соціальних медіа, такі як блоги, дають можливість ділитися власними думками та ідеями, а також обговорювати їх з громадськістю. Блоги - це легкий спосіб контактувати з людьми та мати комунікативну основу для зміни поглядів.
"Блоги - це специфічне явище комунікації з громадськістю, яке, в основному, сприяє демократичній участі, але також створює виклики для урядів" (Skolkay).
The lecture provides insights in the chances and challenges of pluralism and digitisation in the current age and there influence on communication and learning. This goes hand in hand with chances to get more pluralism in open discussions. Pluralism denotes a diversity of views and is open to different opinions and ideas. It is crucial foster pluralism and the existence of different types of people, who have different beliefs and opinions, within the same society.
“Within pluralism we can distinguish process - and content perspectives. Pluralism as process refers to ways of recognition. Democracy and democratic processes are crucial in the practice of pluralism defined as process of recognition. Pluralism as content refers to diversity, to differences in values and beliefs, and to notions of ‘otherness’.” (Kosmopolis Institute 2019)
Pluralism is based on dialogue (see Eck 2006). Therefore, we can use modern media approaches to foster dialogues and the exchange of opinions and ideas to foster by this way also pluralism and democracy themselves. Social media approaches like blogs offer an opportunity to provide such ideas and own opinions and to discuss it with public. Blogging is an easy way to get in contact with people and to have a communicative basis for change of ideas. A blog or weblog is a personal or institutional web page on which individual records and opinions can be shared and discussed like in a public journal. Moreover, links to other site offer the chance to broaden the perspective. So, blogging can easily connected to learning and networking. Our perceptions can completely change because blogs can be used to expose our thoughts and opinions to the masses.
“Blogging is a specific phenomenon of public communication that by and large fosters democratic participation but also poses challenges to governments” (Skolkay 2010, chapter 8 in Klimkiewicz ; see as well Skolkay 2006)
There are several aspects why people use blogs and start blogging:
- to express themselves and their thoughts
- to get in contact and connect with like-minded people
- to delivery valuable information
- to promote themselves
- to improve skills and competences
- to gain knowledge and learn from others
- to make money or find a better job
In total, it offers different possibilities to use social media like blogs for providing ideas and to foster learning processes. However, blogs can also come with challenges and problem. Skolkay (2010= points out that “from civic viewpoint, therefore the blogosphere seems to provide a lethal combination of protected anonymity and distance that encourages all types of bizarre individuals to express their deepest – sometimes pathological – emotions, including death threats.” (Skolkay 2010). Therefore, it is important to learn to handle blogs and to deal with them in an adequate and positive way. There are several didactic and pedagogical concepts which can be used in a blog, to act open-minded and in a democratic and freedom related way, like (a) pro-and-contra-blog-panels, (b) discussion graphics, (c) topic related guided threads, (d) buzz groups (e) data initiated discussions, (f) audio-initiated discussions etc.
